Rice Husk

Rice husk is one of the most widely used agricultural by-products as a bedding material in poultry and barn farming: its fine, hard structure offers high moisture-absorption capacity, it stays long in the bedding because it does not dissolve, and it limits ammonia build-up. It can also be evaluated as fuel; however, because the 15–20% ash content from its high silica content limits its calorific value (3,100–3,580 kcal/kg), its use as bedding or a soil conditioner is more efficient energetically. Haroğlu International offers domestic and export options for wholesale rice husk supply by the truckload.

Sales Unit Tonne / Sack
Minimum Order 1 truckload (~25 tonnes)
Packaging Options Bulk · Big bag · Sack
  • High Moisture Absorption — Ideal Bedding Absorbs high moisture in coops and barns, limits ammonia build-up; its most common and efficient use.
  • Long-Lasting Bedding Because it does not dissolve it stays long in the bedding; it needs infrequent changing, an advantage in labour and cost.
  • Soil Conditioner / Compost Its silica and porous structure are valuable in soil aeration and compost mixes.

Areas of Use

  • Animal bedding (coop, barn) Its fine, hard structure absorbs high moisture, stays long in the bedding because it does not dissolve, and limits ammonia build-up — its most efficient use.
  • Low-cost biomass fuel It can also be used as fuel; however, its high ash content limits the calorific value, so it is an economical/secondary fuel.
  • Soil conditioner / compost Its silica content and porous structure are functional in soil aeration and compost mixes.

Technical Reference Values

Rice husk shows its greatest value as animal bedding: it absorbs high moisture and limits ammonia. It can also be used as fuel, but the 15–20% ash content from its high silica lowers the calorific value; therefore its use as bedding or a soil conditioner is more efficient energetically.

Higher heating value (HHV) ~3,350 – 3,820 kcal/kg (14 – 16 MJ/kg)
Lower heating value (LHV) 3,100 – 3,580 kcal/kg (13 – 15 MJ/kg)
Moisture content 7–10%
Ash content 15–20% (high silica)

Values are reference ranges drawn from biomass literature; they may vary with the product’s origin, harvest period and moisture. Analysis values specific to the shipment are shared on request.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is rice husk ideal bedding?

Its fine, hard structure offers high moisture-absorption capacity; because it does not dissolve it stays long in the bedding and limits ammonia build-up, improving coop/barn air. This is why its most common use is bedding.

Is it good as fuel?

It can be used as fuel, but let us be clear: the 15–20% high ash content (high silica) limits its calorific value (3,100–3,580 kcal/kg). Therefore its use as bedding or a soil conditioner is more efficient energetically.

How is it used for soil?

Its porous structure and silica content improve soil aeration; added to compost mixes it is used as an organic-matter and structure conditioner.

How do minimum order and delivery work?

We supply by the tonne and sack, usually by the truckload and in smaller lots on request. You can request a sample and a quote for domestic delivery and export.

Rice Husk Price & Delivery

Rice Husk has no fixed list price; the per-tonne, big-bag and sack price depends on the harvest, moisture and cleanliness, packaging and delivery distance. For the current rice husk per-tonne, sack and kg price and a wholesale quote, contact us — we reply within 24 hours.

From our Malatya base we ship across Türkiye and for export (EXW/FOB). Minimum order: 1 truckload (~25 tonnes). Packaging: Bulk · Big bag · Sack.
